Home Restaurant Free Restaurant Business Plan 4.13 Industry Establishments & Employees Analysis
Here we look at the number of establishments and employees for all restaurants in Westchester County, New York. This analysis has three sections:
In the first section we see that in 1998 there were 718 full service establishments in Westchester County and over the decade that number grew to 904 representinga 26% increase. The number of employees working in these establishments has grown 35% over the same time period from 8,167 employees to 11,006 employees. What is interesting to note however is that when we examine the trend growth for the average number of employees over the same time period working in full servicerestaurants in Westchester County, we find that while the number grew well from 1998 to 2002, there has been a slowdown since 2002 and that trend has continued all way way till 2007. We feel that this has to do with the fact that full service restaurants in Westchester County, have either had a tougher time recruiting staff or theyare not able to find enough staff to fill the various roles and hence have been making do with a smaller number of employees. There is of course always the possiblitythat many restaurants may have been resorting to hiring undocumented workes to fill in the gaps but these numbers are hard to verify.
This slowdown in the trend in the growth average number of employees should be noted. Being able to have enough qualified and trained staff to serve the customersneeds are very important for the success of a restaurant like A Taste of Tuscany.
