Home Plumbing Contractor Free Plumbing and Heating Contractor Business Plan 4.5 Occupational analysis of the target market population
When we examine the occupational analysis of the population we find that over 41.6% of the population in the target market of Mecklenburg County are engaged in Management, Business, Science & Arts Occupations as compared to 35.9% in the state of North Carolina.
The opposite is true of production and transportation. We find that only 9.6% of the population of Mecklenburg County are engaged in Production & Transportation occupations as compared to 13.3% statewide. Construction and Maintenance occupations comprised 6.7% of the total for the county compared to 9.4% for the state.
We think that this has to do with the fact that the target market of Mecklenburg County has a better educated population and this of course has meant that folks have moved away from blue collar working class occupations into to occupations like management, business and sciences that require higher levels of education.
This explains the higher retails sales per capita in the County of Mecklenburg as compared to the state of North Carolina. When we tie in this analysis with the income and education analyses, we can see that the County has more folks in higher paying occupations, requiring higher levels of education and enjoying higher household incomes.
