When we look at the change in the size of the population in the target market of Mecklenburg County versus the state of North Carolina, a striking difference begins to show up right way. However during the same time period, the resident population in the target market of Mecklenburg County doubled from 515,605 residents to 1,034,070 residents. The state of North Carolina has only seen a modest 35.6% growth in labor force during the same period.
The median household income in Mecklenburg County is about 21% higher than statewide and the Income per capita is about 28% higher as well. While the poverty rate of 15.2% for the target market of Mecklenburg County remains high, it is marginally better than the statewide average of 17.2%.
