4.9 Target Market Race Demographics Analysis
The race demographic analysis of Mecklenburg County and the state of North Carolina shows some striking divergences:
- White folks comprise 71% of the statewide population but are only 55% of the total population in Mecklenburg County.
- Black folks comprise 23% of the statewide population in North Carolina, but represent 31% of the total population of Mecklenburg County.
- 9% of people in Mecklenburg County claim they are from 'Other' race - this includes mixed race extract. The statewide average is 3%.
- And finally Asians are only 3% of the population in North Carolina as compared to 5% in the target market of Mecklenburg County.
This analysis clearly demonstrates that the target market of Mecklenburg County is much more racially diverse than the state of North Carolina.
