The housing stock distribution of units in structure for the target market of Mecklenburg County and the state of North Carolina reveals the following:

1. 67% of the 406,894 homes in Mecklenburg are 1 unit properties as compared to 69.1% statewide.
2. The number of 2 unit homes in Mecklenburg County and the state of North Carolina are 4.5% and 4.9% respectively.
3. Homes that are more than 5 units are 26.8% of the total housing stock of the county compared to 12.4% statewide.
4. Mobile homes are only 1.6% of the total housing stock of Mecklenburg County compared to 13.5% for the state of North Carolina.

Thus we can conclude that given the fact that there are many more multiple unit properties and almost no mobiles homes in the County, that Felix and Michael of Central Plumbing and Heating will have more opportunities to diversify away from just single family homes into larger properties that often require a lot more maintenance and upkeep. Clearly a property that contains 10 housing units will typically have to spend much more in terms of repair and upkeep that a single family home. Once a property manager begins to depend on a plumbing contractor for their service, the plumber can expect to be called in fairly regularly.

New construction work for multiple unit properties can also be much more lucrative than new construction work for a single unit property. This again will play into the experience and background that Felix and Michael have in the business.
