Over 25 years ago a small group of electrical contractors who shared the merit shop philosophy came together to form the Albuquerque Chapter of the IEC. They hoped strength in numbers would help them preserve merit shop ideals, network on best business practices and train future electricians. Today, the chapter electrical contractor members provide over one million hours of employment for New Mexicans across the state.

The New Mexico Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Electrical Industry (NMJATC) offer a five-year electrical apprenticeship program registered with the state of New Mexico and United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training for men and women to become state licensed, union Journeymen Wiremen. They train our apprentices through 8,000 hours of paid on-the-job training augmented with fifty college credits of related instructional training.

The Finger Lakes New York Chapter NECA, Inc. was chartered on March 8, 1948. They provide management services to signatory IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Electrical Contractors and encompasses the jurisdictions of IBEW Local Union #43 Syracuse, NY, and IBEW Local Union #840 Geneva, NY. Their contractors employ only IBEW electricians who receive over 10,000 hours of classroom and on the job training through a five year joint Apprenticeship & Training Program, of which NECA is a co-sponsor.
